Indira Gandhi Memorial

Situated on the Safdarjung Road, the building was the residence of Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India. The memorial encompasses the photographs depicting the life of Indira Gandhi and his son Rajiv Gandhi who lost their lives in tragic incidents.  
The journey through the memorial gives the living experience of the life she lived. The childhood memories of her can be experienced from the articles which she used during her school days such as the sketch pen box, geometrical instruments and the sketch she drawn during her school days.
The mementos presented to her along with the Bharatratna award is displayed in the memorial. The fascinating museum also displays the art crafts and the personal belongings including the blood stained sari she dressed during the time of her assassination is also displayed in glass case. On the way out to the memorial the pathway enclosed in crystal, marks the final footsteps before her murder. One can see the dried blood spots.
The other section of the memorial displays the life sketch of Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India. It includes the photographs depicting the early life of Rajiv Gandhi. The distorted costume and shoes after the suicide bomber intended to kill him is also displayed.
